I was thinking of upgrading
Hi all i am currently using a vanquish 540 and was thinking about upgrading to a higher end machine. After my last outing i found plenty of coins mostly pennys from 1890 onwards and other bits. I had it in my head that i am missing other stuff as it is only and entry level machine but last time out i found several air gun pellets. So my question is would i gain anything from spending alot of money on a new set up. If the 540 can find them with a good solid repeatable tone at around 6in to 8 in deep.

The question you pose does seem to be one of “the” key detecting questions, and I’ve seen it pop up on here numerous times.
I’m no expert and there are many others on here with more experience than me, but my take is that the “better” more expensive machines do have more features, will give you more info, are better made etc but will only get you a little deeper than you’re probably going now. Then of course you’ll need to spend a lot of time understanding it, otherwise it won’t be working at its best.
Getting better land, working more diligently and putting more hours in - these are just as important to getting good finds, if not more so. Easier said than done though.
