1935 Irish Free State Penny

Post by Dave8472 »

Hi all, a woodland find this morning in Kent. I do like this series, only the second one I have ever found. It was a bit ruff so gave it a good clean up, it will tone down after a while [88/]

Brings back memories, would have been a very common coin for me growing up in Dublin back in the 60's. It was a time when even a modest penny bought sweets, Liam :;@

Nice to see something different.
Numista link was interesting, to see that not minted every year.
Happy to find Pre Decimals myself, although my only Irish is a Georgian Halfpenny.
Cheers, [81/]
Dave.

Thanks Dave

I picked up a pig halfpenny a long time ago and just put it away in the interesting but not historical drawer. Because of your Irish Free State post I've had another look and sure enough 1928 Irish Free State. Happy with that, thank you 👍🏻

Nice one [81/]

I have a very worn Pig type but is a later 'Republic' issue, still looking for an earlier one
