I got a book for Christmas- Reading Beaches. It’s pretty good, it changed the way I looked at beaches.
I still haven’t found much, but I don’t go beach detecting very often.
It may be of use anyway.

If you go on the NCMD site the places you can go to are highlighted in purple on the map available, easy to use. The busiest beaches are not always necesscarily the best!!....Have fun!!....

It's worth noting that just because it's purple on the Crown Estate Map, that you can't always detect there.

Sometimes it could be a SSSI, so you have to check that map with DEFRA too. An example of this is Bradwell on Sea in Essex - Crown Estate land, but part of the Dengie SSSI.

In addition to that, sometimes the Crown Estate Let their beaches to 3rd parties, such as the RSPB or the National Trust; neither of whom allow detecting. The National Trust has a blanket ban on metal detecting, unless they are doing it. An example of this is Dunwich in Suffolk, Crown Estate Land, let to the National Trust.
