Ferrous check

Post by rex123 »

Do not trust it!!
Bought a new Legend (my first) and it's running 1.17 so cannot compare to previous versions.
Have just moved house and garden is full of lead, buttons, and yes maybe hammered 🤔
Using the Legend in field, nothing altered apart from dropping sensitivity to 25, got a strong 32 but the f/c was showing full iron apart from one direction where 1 bar of non ferrous registered.
Surprised to find a piece of lead at probe depth, nothing else in hole, even checked after putting plug back.
Manual states that a "strong signal" is required for f/c to work, which I had.

Size, shape, orientation, depth, and surrounding soil composition also greatly influence the detectors ability to properly categorize the Fe probability. Lead being the way it is and leeching to the surrounding soil in small amounts all have an effect on this just as big ol’ rusty iron. At least that’s my theory. Your not alone I have the same issues from field to field.
