Large Lead Weight and Gold Gilt Mount for ID please

Post by Riggers »

Found these today and was wondering if anybody can help with ID’s please - any information and possible age of finds would be very much appreciated. The lead weight weighs 100g with IIII in Roman Numerals on one side and score marks dividing the weight into quarters on the other side. I think the other is a mount, it has gold gilt on both sides, it’s made of bronze. Thanks you very much for your help in advance 😊

Hi
There’s a few lead weights similar to yours on PAS, unfortunately it seems they’re difficult to date, ranging from Roman to post-medieval.
Some info here; https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts ... id/1170394
Cheers, Ruth
