Æ Dupondius.
Third one of these I've picked up now in 3 years and this one is probably the best too

It's not what you don't know that is the problem. It's what you think you know, that just isn't so.

Thanks pal but I'm really confused now by the difference in a dupondius and a sestertius.
Thw first two in this picture where identified by yourself as Dupondius. The third looks exactly the same size and weight but is a sestertius?

Is there any significant difference in weight between the two earlier ones and this latest one?

Slightly. My scales aren't drug dealers so not massively accurate but first comes in at 1.6g. Second 1.8g and third 1.5g

I'm no expertbut this is quite a good starter guide which I found useful, you can see there is an overlap in sizes but the weight is key, yours do seem to be a bit light for either!

And errrrr. Just ignore those points. And see
18g 16g and 15g
Why I thought there was a point don't even ask and how I thought s big bronze coin was weighing in at 1.5 grams....well it was early is my excuse

I was thinking you'd be a useless drug dealer (as per your previous post) with those scales! But the decimal point misplacement was I think noticed by those who are watching. Point is, the weights and sizes are so close it seems reasonable to assume that all three are a similar denomination.Macsen Wledig wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 6:29 pm thanks for that chart, saved.

I dunno if you where coming to score 18 grams and you where coming away with 1.8 I'd be making some serious profits. Though I think I may have a few complaints to try and avoid and ignore and it probably wouldn't be a sustainable business model
