Belt Buckle unknown metal and date

Post by emily_ok »

Hi all, found this today and couldn't believe my luck with it, found Staffordshire England, some sort of assumed belt buckle. I would like help identifying its age please before I consult a buckle book a friend has and if anyone knows the best way to clean it since I'm not sure if I'm able to get it wet. There's always a chance it's silver but you will all know better than I do and I highly doubt it. It has cleaned up nicely so far but for the smaller parts it feels impossible to dislodge the dirt in the details. Any help would be greatly appreciated, am very new to the hobby so any and all help/advice goes a long way thank you!
