Silver roman fragment for ID please

Post by Jonno91 »

Hi all ino it’s a long shot but curious about this surviving bust silver roman fragment I’ve had up today with the manticore. It’s come off my permission where I’ve had 5 siliquas and 1 denarius

Any help would be greatly appreciated I understand if I can’t get anything from it probably one for allectus 🫣

Found with the manticore on pasture around 3 inch down

It's as if a coin clipper wanted every bit of silver but was meticulous that the bust and even legend remained unmolested by the greed
It's not what you don't know that is the problem. It's what you think you know, that just isn't so.

I can see it's not had the full clip machine treatment but I refered to the culprit who made it this way as a clipper because it can't be just by chance that the damage manages to follow the emperors profile like that.
I just think it's too much a coincidence that not one bit of his head has been damaged yet the rest of the coin has been completly gnawed away like that.

Not a coin clipper, a coin beater then.
