Nice silver Brooch

Post by olstonsurf »

Managed to sneak off today for a couple of hours on a new permission , found this lovely silver brooch on pasture , missing the pin at about 5  inch, gave a big high tone 46 ish on the legend.
Can anyone Id the date letter and makers mark please?
I don’t think it’s terribly old .
Thanks In advance.

Ps- I’ve had a look and got a date of 1876 but feel like it’s newer than this?

Thank you for the replies.
Over 100 years old, I’m happy with that.
It’s going in the collection…

Called a sweetheart brooch, not to be confused with the military version. Made by Able & Charnell (Thomas Able & Walter James Charnell), Birmingham 1902/3. [81/]
