Lewis if you think there is silver showing through you can do something that is non destructive and will show up if it is silver...
Get a piece of Silver Foil fold in half, then place the coin inside the fold
Then spit on the coin and silver foil and rub slightly....leave the coin covered with foil and spit....
If its working you will smell something like rotten eggs, this is a chemical reaction between the foil, your spit and the coin....
the muck will be transfered onto the foil...
You can use baking soda and hot water and the foil....but spit and foil seem to have the best results.......

I think its this one which is an Token...late 18th century.....around 1792ish
I think the legend is the same as this token and should read "Payable to Swords on Dublin"
"Swords" is/was a town in Dublin...
You need to rotate your coin "almost" 90 degreesto the right to get it the right way up.....i think it was/is the equivilent of a Halfpenny
Sorry about the small pics, just save it and then zoom into it with your paint prog...

Roughly nothing I think, copper coins and tokens might have value. If legible or uncirculated ideally

Try leaving it in cheap, non virgin, olive oil for a few months, might help a bit, but it's not normally dirt hiding it, it's dirt eating it away that is the problem
