Lots Of Interesting Beach Finds

Post by fishy »

Well this thread sort of falls into three categories, I chose beach because its where I found it all.
Beach, ordnance and ID help.

Took my lad with me to the beach in some very strong wind which made things hard work.
I forgot my had hat, the sound of the wind whistling around my headphones was horrendous.

Most of this stuff came from a patch of mud we found last time. Seems to be a natural collection area.

My favourite find was a musket ball. Its my first one.

Any comments on the photos, ID or general info would be great :D

Not sure what coin this is.

A 1961 shilling in excellent condition under the brown stuff which will come off easy.

I think this is off a necklace. It is a blue flower on ceramic mounted on metal.

Like an old .303 but short?

Yet to discover what this is. Cleaned off some crap and found a nice shiny bit.

Any suggestions on this?

Part of a big bullet?

Yes, I'd have said .38 too. But can't remember if .38 are slightly shorter in length?

Hi,have to say I think the small bullet is a .30 carbine bullet fired from a .30 carbine M1 and the round it fires is classed as a pistol calibre (see picture) These are not to be confused with 30.06 calibre bullet which some people call a .30 cal as these are fired from high velocity rifles.

I think hobster has nailed it... looks like a .30cal carbine bullet.

I've got one here somewhere. I'll dig it out

Hi

Some nice finds :) Very nice 20mm cartridge and in decent condition.

Now there is no easy way of saying this, but I am afraid I disagree with Chopper :(( :(( The 'long' 9mm you have isn't. It is an M1 carbine 30cal round. I can also see an M1 cartridge on your group photo.

Sorry chopper !
