Thaks for the tips Tomo.

I have an Ace 150 will it be ok on the wet sand? I've read that it's not really any good on the beach. I did find loads of bottle tops, ring pulls and lumps of what looked like lead last time out so it must be working ok right?

on the wet take a few coins with ya (Not 2p's) and bury a few as a test bed at diff depths to Get an idea of What your listening for. Turn the sense down, alot of people with the 250 turn down to 3 notches. If possible take a gold ring, tie some string to it ( so you Dont lose it) and bury that as a test too.

I would never had thought to do these tests. Thanks again Tomo!!

last time I had the machine on Jewelery mode and mid sensitivity as the Iron signals were almost constant and I got tired of digging every beep only to find rust coloured sand.

Hi Jimbo take a walk from coastguard station towards leisure centre about 2mtrs out from sea wall sand is quite dry there when tide is out ,follow footsteps in sand might find some modern coins especially if it's cold people pull out their handkerchiefs to wipe their runny noses and bingo pull out some coins as well good luck.going there next week leave some for me .

Hi peeps

Some words from the Antipodes.

Great words of wisdom relating to setting up a test bed at the beach, you will get to know the sounds but also put some junk in the sand as well. I have one set up in my garden and I keep going back to it as, as my little buried treasures stay longer in the ground, the target response can change especially after it has been raining and a larger halo is produced.

Regulation?

Our detector club has what we call the Code of the Coil. Very simple. Respect other people's property, fill in all holes and try to keep the scene tidy. If someone asks what you are doing, be truthful (to a point if you have some unsavoury looking characters observing you). Wear headphones when you have the public about as beeping can drive people potty.

If you are finding junk, there is probably good stuff around somewhere, just persevere.

Enjoy the hobby

I agree with kiwisouth. if there are ring pulls and bottle caps there will usualy be coins too as its a sign that someone has been there. :D

Just got back after 3 hours on the beach. I found another pound coin a 2p and 2 5p's also lots of ring pulls and some general metal lumps. Tried the wet sand and was getting some good signals one in paticular turned out to be a metal fragment about 3" wide and 4" long this was at about 9 inches deep. Pretty poor by some peoples standards on here but for my second outing I'm glad to be finding anything :D

Cheers

I'm outside Old Trafford and there's a guy burning small effigies of Rooney and selling them to fans. Oh, hang on. It's a baked potato stand.

It all looked very quiet down there with only a couple of trucks knocking about.
