beating the beach

Post by onlyonegazza »

is there anyone who thinks like me regarding beaches? at this time of year when the finds are harder to come bye, i enjoy the detecting more!
the thought of trying to beat the beach is allways in the back of my mind. there are less people about, not as many detectorists around and the ones that are there seem to be in the same frame of mind.
the fun of beach detecting for me is first of all being by the sea ,what ever the weather, beating the beach, trying to quess where the next tide will move things to,or from and it's a bonus to find jewelery.
i see a lot of threads on hear about being bored,or the beach is cleaned out,but dont think about that, think positive, the finds are there but you havn't learnt the beach yet,it takes years.
i still learn something every time i detect and will do for years to come, dont expect to much, then when you find good stuff it's a bonus at this time of year. :)

Just got back from the beach after a couple of hours with a ring in my hand :D
Found some other bits and bobs also.

Only went there because my fields are covered in snow.

Will put some pics up later.

I just love the beach.I try to get on there 2-3 a week.it is a challenge to find the goodys,as the beach is forever changing.looking for the dips in the sand, thinking there like traps for coins.an the next day that trap has moved an formed some where else,of you no what I mean.best of it is beach detecting is faster an not as hard work.love it. :D

i totally agree with you,it's the fun of reading the beach.sometimes you get it wrong and sometimes you get it right, but when you walk straight to a patch on the beach, start swinging and find loads of stuff it's all worth it in the end. [:) :)
