Please read through this thread I posted last year - might help you in deciding whether your site is safe or not.
This is not meant to scare you or anyone - but please tread carefully if you are on a permission that was once used for ordnance training.

Mate, you're digging some major craters in the ground for those tiny bits. Need to sort your technique out 8-}

Having live ammunition in your possession is a serious offence nowadays, and just pasted your mug on Youtube!

First up, you need to stop digging 'on' the detection or you will chop most of your finds in half. Once pinpointed, move behind the signal and dig towards it, not directly ON IT !

Secondly, your technique will eventually result in you being shot through the foot/leg/arse/chest/face by the live rounds you're digging. You are not being anywhere near careful enough, you place a total over reliance on your pinpointer, (your initial terrible pinpointing with your MD I believe is causing this), and the way you dig makes me cringe. Cut a square of turf out and lift it gently, re-detect the hole to confirm positioning, then use a smaller tool to dig down.

Thirdly, you need to hand in the live rounds you've recovered. Possession is illegal without the appropriate licence, (which is harder to get hold of than a chicken that lays square eggs), and is subject to a 5 year prison sentence.

Fourthly, get some proper gloves and stop using your dish washing gloves !

Fifthly, fill your damn holes in properly. Stop leaving half the earth on the surface. Just because you push the grass clod back in the hole doesn't mean you're responsible. Put EVERYTHING back !

Sixthly, why the hell are you asking the farmer if they're safe or not ???? Was he trained in ordnance as well as ploughing ? If you hit the cartridge right with your spade, trust me it WILL go off. And why do you think you'll just find 303s ? I hate to think what will happen the day you find something bigger and more bad tempered than the 303 rounds you show. I strongly suspect I'll be seeing you on the national news.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder why MDers get a bad name. I have just discovered why.

No disrespect mate, but if i dug holes like yours and left them as untidy as you do on my permissions i would be told to go away....

It also appeared to me that your first find "shrapnel"? was discarded back into the hole it came from?

As mentioned you should pinpoint the exact centre of the find and then dig a plug the width of your spade, approx 4" deep around the centre of the target, and pull the plug out of the ground.
Or the other technique is a 3 sided plug which helps the grass to reroot and keeps the plug in place when animals try to lift it and forage for grubs....

Imagine it being a rare gold coin and you slam your spade straight across it, hundreds of years in the ground, only to have most of its value taken away by mindless digging techniques.....

For your own safety and in an effort to keep your permissions i think you need to read up on a few threads here......

Not trying to get at you or belittle you but you have made your techniques public knowledge now.....
