Sieving

Post by pete@boston »

Hi
I am going out to Turkey in two weeks and taking a detctor is a no go.

I have bought a couple of Sieves just to Sand Lark about with the area we are stopping in has loads of Roman history would it be best to going at low tide and aim for anything in particuialr like gullys black sand ect?

Hopefully the Turkish people wont mind me sieving on the private beach.
My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

Hi Pete,
Personally, I wouldn't try take anything out of Turkey. I you do find anything, photograph it and hand it in at the local police station or museum. If you do attempt to take historic artfacts out with you; you may find yourself having a very extended holiday.

Many years ago I worked in Turkey for seven months and visited some of the sites; Troy. Ephesus, Pamukale, and many others. Whilst walking round some sites; I was offered historic coins but said no thank you. If offered, just say YOK. Thats Turkish for No, no way, not anyhow!

Enjoy your holiday and stay safe. It's a great place and a very friendly people. As you no doubt alredy know. :)

Ephesus!

Just sit in the theater and imagine that 2000 years ago the place was filled with a screaming mob
all wanting to kill Saul of Tarsus. He was lucky to escape with his skin.

Did you get to see the cave of the seven sleepers?
