Morning All,
Had an hour on the beach, really starting to get used to my new MD now, although only found the usual rubbish, was quiet interested in the round case and what i think is the top of a large bullet.
Any ideas what they maybe.

I can't judge the scale on the bullet but it looks like a 20mm head, in which case it could well still be live and have enough power to remove your hand. Can you take a pic of it on its own with a measure next to it. Treat it VERY carefully until positively id'd!

Yeah, its a 20mm head. It looks like it is probably a solid shot, however, they also made a small number of base fused high explosive rounds, and they look just like solid shot but are rather nasty. Look at the base of the bullet......if it is hollow inside you're ok. If it is solid I'd dispose of it safely, just in case.
If you find anything else this size with a brass nose, leave it alone! The brass nosed ones don't like being disturbed and will relieve you of a couple of fingers
This is assuming your scale is in inches. If it's cms then iit's probably a 50 cal and safe to keep.
Hope that helps.

The more I look the more I think its a 20. And it is likely to be from the war. I find them in that condition.
I suggest you dispose of it safely. No relic is worth a bit of your body.
