first day with the se
so whent out today with the explorer se pro and to be totally honest i didnt have a clus what i was doing i dont know what mode i was in what modes there was to chooose from thought i was discriminating out nails and was finding nails had a whole days detecting and just a load of scrap to show for it have to read the book again

Despite what others might say, Factory Settings are quite a good starting point. Just hold the on button down a bit longer when you switch on.
I would even go so far as to say Factory Settings are where you should start, especially if you are struggling with a new machine. It certainly helps you understand the sounds, numbers and the cross on the screen.
If you can stand the weight, stick with it, they are fantastic machines IMO. Just too heavy for me.

It's like the E-trac John...very different from what you're used to ...but persevere with it and read the book again...and again...Andy Sabisch's book 'The Explorer and E-trac' is worth getting too as there are lots of tips in there...
