Cleethorpes beach
Is or has anyone ever been detecting on cleethorpes beach
It's where I was born and will be heading back there next weekend for Easter and was thinking of taking my detector to the beach.
Will I need permission and do you think it's worth taking the detector 200 miles to a beach
Still not used it yet

There appears to be "No detecting" signs in some places
I would contact the council and ask first.....
Or check the Crown foreshore Permit website which can be found in our beach section....

My laptops being repaired at the minute so doing it off my phone not seeing the foreshore maps that easy
fairly sure they use some sort of cleaning machine dragged along by a tractor cleans all the stuff off the beach unless its deep

Hightower,
Yes you can detect on the beach. At one time you did have to purchase a permit if you wanted to go on the dry sand but this doesn't seem to be enforced anymore, unsure if you still need to purchase one. They were supplied by the tourist information shop and enforced by the beach safty chaps but they never ask me for anything.
Print off a foreshore permit and you will have no problems on the wet sand.
There is a tractor that cleans the beach everyday but its not that effective against coins and rings.
There have been a couple of good cuts over the past few weeks, on the south beach, that produced 3 pieces of gold for me and loads of pre decimal coins. There have been a few people go over this but i still keep finding more, even when the e-tracs have gone over it
This is due to the areea also being infested with little tiny copper rivets, Two of my gold came up with rivets close to them. I dug over 400 rivets to get the gold. I think people get tired and fed up of digging then just leave what they think are rivots. I want to get my PI on the area but i think i still have many more rivets to move first
Spoke to people who were doing dry sand and they all had a few quid each but no gold.
If you have lived there guess i dont have to tell you to watch the fast incoming tides
Also the mud as you start going out, this has also produced gold for me if you locate the right bits of exposed clay. Ensure you have a good scoop and you will have a good time no matter what part of the beach you go on.
Above all else make sure you leave some loot for me

You relise, after living at Cleethorpes, how big the beach is, it would take years to cover it with a detector.
Went to Cleethorpes today and south beach only to find id left the top half off the GT shaft at home
So ended up using the wifes ace 250, which did find a foreign coin in wet and there was some nice cuts but the ace wasnt up to the job
Left cleethorpes abit down hearted as it looked like one of those days that the beach would produce
Lesson learned , better preparation next time

Where are the best places to detect on cleethorpes beach?, are these cuts south side of the leisure centre? Pm me if anyone passes through gy and wants some company and can pick me up. Not tried out my safari on there yet.
