Nice looking bottle, mate, but unfortunately very little to go on. Obviously an expensive item in it's time, particularly if the top was indeed gold, which it may well have been. As for perfume - possibly, but I think it unlikely with a broad neck such as that, also a perfume of high enough quality to have a gold top is likely to have been a bit more showy - cut glass, maybe. From the shape I think this would have been set into something - I'm thinking a high class writing case, for instance, and therefore maybe an ink well.
Unfortunately with no embossing or other embellishments, of little value - even with the gold cap intact, not much more than scrap gold value as it would appear to be part of a set. But a nice find, nevertheless

Hi vikingwarrior
Could the bottle you have found be an ink bottle? - seems G Riddle of London did make them - cannot find any info that they made perfume bottles.
Here are some links that might help you:

Excellent bit of detective work, Lolly - see the 4th or 5th post down ...
I've recently been clearing out my garage and discovered an old writing box. There are no discernible markings other than the inkwell lid which bears the markings

Thanks excavator - we must have been thinking along the same lines - though I think you got there well before I posted!
I would definitely say an ink well of some sort due to the shape and design.
I actually have a very old perfume bottle manufactured by Rene Lalique - which I purchased at a table top sale many years ago for 50p - shame it has a chip in the lid - but I still cherish it - beautiful shape and design - found out it was roughly from the 1920's.
