Oops, they do keep turning up; don't they. I came across a photo of some incendury bombs the other day; the darned things didn't look at all like bombs. I will try an post a pic on this thread at the week end.

German incendiary bombs are a bugger to spot, basically because the fin, ( which would shout BOMB at whoever digs it ), usually becomes detached or corrodes away. This leaves a length of, what looks like, rusty tubing. No marks are usually visible yet the thing is still quite capable of going off. Tip here is, if you find a length of rusty tubing about 12inches long and 3 inches in diameter, leave it alone !!!!

The grenades at Banbury appear to be of the WW1 phosphorous variety. Real nasty stuff.

11 May 2012:
World War II grenade found in Galway gardenAround 30 houses were evacuated in Galway overnight after a World War II grenade was found in a garden.

The device, which was viable, was found at a property in Rahoon around 22:30 BST on Thursday.

It was made safe by Irish army bomb disposal experts around 01:30 BST on Friday.

Residents have been allowed to return to their homes
