A bit of help with the Deus please :)

Post by Fishermansam »

Hi all,
(Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section)

If you have iron volume on 0, does that decrease your chances of finding a small silver hammered next to a piece of iron for example? :-/

I also keep on getting really high pitched bleeps along with an iron tone ... I dig, hoping it to be something next to a piece of iron, but it turns out to be a horse shoe ... Will a horseshoe signal sound similar to a 'Coin next to a piece of iron' signal?? :-/ :-/

Thanks very much and Happy hunting ::g :D :D ::g ,
Sam :;@

My opinion only Sam, I would have the iron volume on at least at 1 or 2... at 0 you could lose some good targets which have a lower tone, Vol set at 0 cuts the low iron sound out altogether, so could affect lower tones......... Large pieces of rusty iron can give a sort of halo effect, which would give you the high pitched tone..... fools most detectors... same old story here, dig or not.???

Why dont you put a bit of iron on the ground,then place a hammy next to it,and see what it sounds like?Turning the iron volume off is not a good idea!You need to listen to the ground to find habitation.Lots of Iron equates to habitation.The control that gives you most information amongst iron is the reactivity.Again practice with the iron/coin.Nobody can really give you a shortcut to learning the machine.The more you use it the clearer it will become. ::g

I find large iron gives a large signal and sounds 'fizzy' just as the coil meets the target.
Also, the sound is 'stretched' instead of a clean, sharp, sudden response.

Strangely, most "desirable" finds result in a lower ID number, ie 45 to 85ish.
