Rhos-on-sea beach

Post by craghopper »

Went down to Rhos beach to try out new F4 the beach looked different to usual very flat and white found nothing near surface all rubbish was unusually deep down about 12ins and didn't find a single coin the surface of the sand was very white and got onto every thing my clothes were covered in white dust like deposits 'I thought the beach may have had a deep clean and all the shells ground up and the surface then rolled flat as there were tracks from heavy plant on beach and the sand near the wall was approx 12ins higher than the rest of the beach ,any one been down there recently?
Tried the F4 on the wet sand further down but it was very noisy in disc mode used the pinpoint mode with ground balance and found a 2p badly corroded about 9ins down in small area that I have searched before with the V6 and hadn't picked up signal so at least the F4 works ok on wet sand .

It sounds like you have been there after the beach cleaner has been along mate :(

They do a good job of removal of a lot of rubbish including goodies, but do make the area better for the majority of people to enjoy the beach..although can be rather trying times to a beach detectorist :P

Hi Yellow I replied to your post last night but it has not appeared . I have been going to Rhos beach for many years not detecting until recently but have never known the beach to be cleaned before, suppose there is always a first time it's only a narrow stretch of sand approx
200 mtrs long but it has been spoilt it could do with 6ins of fresh sand putting on top as can't see anyone sitting on it now it's just like the dust from a bag of plaster .I'll take another look at it in a couple of weeks see if it's worth detecting .
