Hi Guys,
As I am not back at work until Sunday thought I'd get in a session away from home, my first real session with my new equipment since returning to the hobby. So as the tides were favourable decided to give Hessle foreshore a go. Had hoped to try the south bank of the Humber but couldn't see anywhere suitable to try? No doubt some one can enlighten me?
Anyway I had an enjoyable couple of hours, nothing startling but first coin within 5 mins of getting there albeit only a 2p certainly wetted the appetite.
I must admit at first sight of one of the fishing leads I thought I'd found a spear head, ah well can but dream? And the small nugget was showing a definite Gold ring sign, and took a bit of digging to get out. I wasn't sure what metal it was at first but upon closer inspection I think it is a piece of silver solder or similar braze metal, as it appears to still have some flux slag attached.
Cheers
Graham

Only in it for the ££££'s

I like the old home made fishing weight, just a piece of lead with a hole bored through. I've made quite a collection of HeathRobinson -ish fishing weights found on the beach, interesting to me anyway.

Hi Andy,
I've already seen yours, Bam bams and other posts, thanks thats what gave me the idea of trying there, otherwise it was Cleethorpes etc on Lincs coast, at least until I get some permissions.
I was all on my lonesome on Wednesday, so gently meandered upstream towards the bridge.
It will be end April May time before I get chance again
Cheers

My eyesight isn't failing me then !
I am sure you're aware that possession of such live ammunition is covered by the firearms act and is illegal to possess without the relevant licence. It will need handing in to the police I am afraid.
Sorry.

When I was a kid, long long ago I used to go onto Hessle foreshore to try to find some of the iron balls, about as big as tennis balls, they were used in Capper Pass works for grinding chemicals. They looked just like cannon balls and there was a good market for them to posh houses. I dont suppose there will be many left now with all the detecting going on around there.

Hi RRPG,
Yes I was aware that it will need handing in to the Police, thanks, been too busy preparing to fly out to China tomorrow to get around to it.
