I usually do Margate main beach, I do other Thanet beaches, but I figure the main beach should be the best. Have found a couple of rings there before. Usually find a few coins, but last few times hardly anything.
I use a Sovereign GT standard coil, no notch or disc, iron mask on. Sens around 12 o clock. The beach is done to death though, always someone down there. Just keep on trying I guess.

Mostly wet sand.

Not odd at all Midas. I've only been doing this a few months and rarely find anything that would get anyone else excited. That's probably a combination of my abilities and my permission but I still love digging up anything that I can later identify and have a guess about what was going on on the field at that time. If i ever get to the point where i am bored by a Georgian coin or finding a medieval clay pipe by accident in the hole i've just dug then I think I will call it a day.

Sadly and a little scarily, I enjoy work too.
Cheers

Phil

Well anyone who enjoys their work is very lucky, I certainly don't, I'd rather be detecting or riding my bike, in fact I find work interferes with my social life. I do have detector envy when I drive by the beach on the way to work and see people detecting.
