XP Deus turn on guide

Post by busterhamer »

I may be going slightly over the top but this way at least's removes any doubt that your machine is working to it's best ability

here is my routine for turning on the Deus

1. point it up in the air,
2. ensure their is no other detectorist or large metalic objects (cars etc) within 5m
3. turn on the Deus press yes/no for speaker and wait for the coil light to stop flashing rapidly (10-20 secs)
4. keep it up in the air and turn on headphones (wait 5 secs)
5. keep it up in the air and set GB to tracking and select program
6. lower it down and get swinging
7. if i do switch program while detecting i also point it in the air

hope this help's

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D OooO OooO

With reference to this thread:

I think it's worth keeping the search-coil level during turn-on/self-cal. Firstly, you get less Radio interference pickup, secondly, that's how it is used normally. The expression "point it up in the air" rather suggests tipping it.

HeHe. This is where a picture is worth a thousand words! A lot of people would say that they would have the detector pointing down in normal use (coil below the hand-grip), so to point it up in the air, they would raise the search-coil 4 feet, whilst keeping the hand-grip/elbow-cup end in roughly the same place. This of course tips the coil. Many would avoid raising the entire detector, because it's then not easy to see the control-box screen when it's at eye-height. One thing you could do is tweak the angle of the coil relative to the lower stem, so that the coil is flat when the stem/shaft is roughly horizontal.

Yes fair point made as the coil will need to re-calibrate between programs ::g
keep it up in the air and set GB to tracking and select program
Obviously some will not using tracking and may use manual or pumping which I am sure your aware but just making it clear ::g
Cheers
