hi mate if its a shilling issue then it will be silver you could test if unsure with a piece of tin foil and warm water wrap coin in foil and rub if smells of rotten eggs its silver ::g

You can find out on-line who ringed the birdie that died wearing that ring, they (Museum research group) would love to hear from you where you found it so they can track the movement of the species.

Keep us posted I found a ring from a Green Finch that was ringed in Denmark 2 years earlier in a field in Bishops Waltham!
