headphone problem

Hi all,
hope one of you kind people can help me out here,the headphone socket on my explorer xs has broken,(the bit in the handle)..does anyone know how or what to fix,and could you not change that piece to a 6.5mm socket so i can just use my chefphones anyhow? HH neil

It's probably just the pins on the inside of the socket a bent. Ought to be possible to replace with a 6.3mm jack socket (I think its a 3.5mm socket on the XS but I could be wrong). People have used adaptor leads or even hard wired headphones into the socket (not recommended).

Thank's for the reply wansdyke44,the piece inside had broken so i replaced with new one but was wondering if i could solder a 6.3mm headphone socket in instead of the 3.5mm as when i use an adaptor it sometimes cuts out. HH neil

Hi Neil, you won't be able to fit a standard 6.35 socket in the normal position, I like many others have replaced the socket with a 6.35 located under the control housing, here there is plenty of room internally and also moves it too a less "weather exposed" position.
