Chaps !! ( for legs ) Jack Pyke

Post by canshred »

For all the cowboys out there.....

I got a pair of these as I kneel a lot and was fed up of wet knees. I didn't want to put on full waterproofs as they can just get too hot especially round the gentleman's area rl;
Easy to put on and off as they clip round your belt and you then Velcro and press stud them together. Cover most of the leg and you can adjust the height.
Designed for Beaters on shooting parties so are robust.

Available in a few places including the large auction site from around 18 quid. several colours.

Yeah my knees are knackered.... I have knee pads but find that the rest of the legs still get soaked. I am contemplating getting some dense foam like a sleeping mat and taping it inside the chaps around the knee area, or using contact adhesive.

Yeah they look good too. I think the main difference is that they are pull on whereas the others wrap around the leg.
I think the ones I have are more heavy duty as they are designed for beating through the bush.
They are also not breathable fabric.
I have used them several times now and they are great. no messing about on one leg trying to pull them over boots.
I do have some goretex overtrousers as well for wet days but got these to prevent my legs getting soaked on wet ground.
So far I am well impressed with them. ::g

They look good Canshred,
especially as you say about getting the Betty Swallocks in full over trousers,as well as being a nuisance to put on..I`ve given up with mine coz I can`t lift my gammy leg up high enough-no good hopping round getting changed and falling in the hedge!Just a question..do they pull tight when you kneel down, pulling your trousers down they are fixed to?

I think may get some of these..them being camo and me called Clint....Yeeeeeehaaaarrrrrr!!!

lol... had the same issue, The top of the chaps are a strap you loop under your belt and then they press stud to themselves they have two height adjustments.
The sides are held together by a combination of press studs and Velcro which seems to work. Personally they haven't pulled my pants down as my belt is tight. also you don't end up with a crotch around your knees which I tend to find with waterproofs.
Occasionally the top press stud on the side pops open but this is almost definitely down to the amount of junk I have in my pockets and size of my legs ( ex rugby forward ).
I am only 5 ft 8 and these cover almost all my leg and give freedom of movement. ::g
The cheapest I have seen them is the large auction site, scroll through the list though some are free postage etc.....

Forgot to mention, both legs are entirely separate so don't pull against each other when kneeling or crouching.
