Well,after the largest tidal surge since 1953 I had to check out my local beach to see what`s altered
Here in N Essex it was slightly lower than 60 years ago and fortunately for people living close to the coast the defenses held so no homes were flooded.I could see that as the wind was on shore,sand had been moved in but at around 20 feet below the usual high tide mark the level had dropped slightly,and the slope of the shore was more gradual.I detected for around three hours and came away with 55 coins,all were decimals apart from a Greek 5 eurocent and rather surprisingly a large Roman bronze coin rather worse for wear unfortunately but still an interesting find.
