Blackpool finds all in black rock?
I went to Blackpool beach today I found a few cuts and gullies to detect my finds were all scrap and rubbish but for some reason every find was stuck in hard black rock with pebbles and shells attached does anybody know what this stuff is or how the items get inside? Is this common in Blackpool? I've never seen this on other beaches.
I had no idea what was in any of the rocks until I got the rocks home and smashed them with hammer to reveal scrap metal and crap.

I would have said it was tar as well,if it has covered all your finds like that just image what it does to sea bird and other forms of wildlife.

Thanks Lord makes sense. Does remind me of tar but yes must be a build up that sticks only to metal slowly over time under sand so hopefully wildlife will be ok.

Mind you, the range on that one doing Blackpool beach is very good, either that or the operator is running to keep up with it.
Ive had a look at the Drone Parrot which is operated using an iphone or tablet but I dont think the range would be as good as that
Im sure the guy used a directional antenna on his car roof, he has another vid flying over Alton Towers - again - quite a range, ive seen them around £300 RTF and loaded with GPS etc.

Ha yes exactly like that. The metal must attract it.

I know this is an old thread, but I found it searching about Blackpool as I am off there tomorrow to do the Beach.Cobs wrote:Im sure the guy used a directional antenna on his car roof, he has another vid flying over Alton Towers - again - quite a range, ive seen them around £300 RTF and loaded with GPS etc.
Anyway, I thought it worth mentioning that the guy who shot that video got a £550 fine for his Alton Towers video and could still face similar action for the Blackpool video.
