Hiya Kim, Its some time since I last used a Ace 250 but stick it on all metal and turn the sensitivity down if it starts chattering on the beach. Best place to try is around the areas people sit and any rockpools. Good Luck after these storms you should find something good.

Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

Hi all
I bet some real goodies will come out after this hectic weather!!,im waiting with baited breath to see the results of all the sand movements during these storms.
if your gonna try with the ace then just knock the SENS down untill it stabalises and you may get something out ,but dont forget its not just the wet stuff that the goodies will get dumped on!, the waves and power is so strong they will get all over the place!
but so will all the rubbish:(
good luck mate
and be carefull!!!!

all i can say is dig were the sand aint thick/deep and any stripped out areas or gullys etc

Popped down to Exmouth briefly yesterday, a huge chunk had been taken out of the dunes, looked like an excavator had literally cut a swathe through them. I was finding masses of 1960's coin and early decimals - mostly half pennies all along in front of where the sand had been removed, sadly nothing much more, though I've no doubt a few rings will have been there somewhere, I didn't have much time being there with the family. The storms forecast for overnight & tomorrow are southerly, so should shift even more on the south coast.
