I Ordered One

Post by fishy »

Hello everyone,

I have not been on for some time and I have not been out with my Safari for ages now due to the shooting season and the rain/mud/flooded fields.

Anyway I ordered a CTX3030 today and its coming TOMORROW :D :D :D

I am soo excited. Hope it comes first thing so I can go and try it out.

Now frantically searching on how to use it.

I will be reporting in soon with some finds ::g

Cant wait to get back out.

Any quick start tips for a heavy mineralised pasture with quite a lot of iron scrap?

Done this field to death with the Safari but had some awesome finds. Hope I can find some new bits and bobs with the new machine.

Cheers
Fishy ::g ::g ::g

Judging by the Youtube videos I've seen it's a best of a machine.

Good luck mate.

Congratulations Fishy on one of the best detectors available, a tad expensive but you will love it. Its well balanced is the first thing you will notice. If you get yourself the big coil you might want to buy one of my Detecting Buddy harnesses advertised on this forums auction site. Depends how fit you are but most people find after a day in the field with the big coil on you need a little support. As far as programmes for it are concerned Gordon Heritage of Hoard Hunters fame has a brilliant set that can be downloaded off the Minelabowners forum. They are the ones most of us use. His current Ghost and Tadpole programmes used in conjunction with each other are the current favourites. You will need somebody local to you who uses them to explain what I mean in conjunction with. Basically when you are working through and learning the menu you have the option on the furthest to the right button to go back to the last used programme, Gordon uses that to check out signals between two sets of settings. Works well but not something you will pick up in five minutes. Brilliant detector, enjoy it. :)

P.S Fishy If you have a lot of very mineralised ground as you say save up and get a six inch coil for it when you can.

Hi Fishy, I got mine just before Christmas, and have to say it is hell of a machine, I do agree keep it smiple use the preset programs to start with, then look on line and you will find a few which wil suit you. I have just downloaded the pasture program from Gary's detecting and used it this weekend and have to say it really is a great program.
Anyway good luck and enjoy your new machine

Have a look on GARYS FORUM, some good features on his site for the minelab CTX3030.
I'm Having a go at building my own progs soon.
The manual is good ,but not too good on in-depth explanations.
Lots of vid's on youtube.
Best of luck with it .
Good hunting ::g
