Awkward coil cover on ace 250 standard coil

Post by statbloke »

Should I be detecting with a coil cover on or off?

It seems to be a bugger to get off once fitted. In fact I had to break my cover to get it off. All the videos I have seen show the detector used without the cover.

So my question is does it impair the Ace's function at all with the cover fitted. I would certainly have more trouble pin pointing with it fitted as you can't observe the ground through the cover but on the other hand don't want to do anything that shortens the life of the coil. I realise this us a bit of a dull topic but interested in what more experienced Ace users do.

I would keep the coil cover on mate, you wont get any more depth with it off and if your tecting ploughed without it,then it will be ready for the scrap heap before long.

It may help the removal of the cover by pouring hot water on it,i had the same problem with my 150 and 350.I smeared petrolium jelly on the inside when putting it back on,cd ::g

Having coil on or off makes no difference on the functions of the machine and depth. It's just to prevent scratches/chips and other damages to the coil so if your careful where you swing then you have not much use for it. I also removed mine and had to break it so take it off its annoying anyway's and mud gets stuck
