Reading the manual for my new CTX and never used s machine with threshold before.
Not yet used it but understand what its supposed to do.
But, the manual explains how to set not tto loud or quiet but then goes on the say that the default is 30 (in a range from 1-30) so the machines default is the loudest it can be set.
Help please to understand and what are peoples favourite setting unless it should be 30????

Couple of tips here, firstly turn the threshold up so you can clearly hear it, then alter the pitch of the threshold that seems to be the most comfortable on the ears, for me that was 26. Then turn the threshold down so you can just hear it. The idea is if you have iron discriminated out, as you run over iron, instead of hearing the iron sound, you loose the threshold sound, so you get a null sound, lets you know there is iron without all those horrible tones lol. The volume gain is the difference between weak signals and strong ones, I have this set to 25 so not to miss the weak ones, more important if detecting without the headphones, I do this while detecting around large livestock like horses
PS, re sensitivity, set it to at least Auto +1 , I am using Auto +2 now

Thanks.
I noticed that the manual says threshold range 1 - 30 but xchange shows 1 - 50. So default of 30 is about mid range. The 30 max in manual is a typo?

Edited post, never noticed that lol, go's up to 50, mine is at 20-26 depending on head phones or no headphones and just to confirm pitch at 26Biglewey wrote:Thanks.

dont know the machine but as a rule theshold should be just auditable i know on my deepstar it is as steady as a rock

Thanks again. Fired it up tonight for the first time -so much to get to grips with..
I do mostly pasture which is mineralised.
Starting with GB on. Coin-ground. Sens auto. Recover deep (land not ploughed so targets deep). Combined tones and smooth audio (read that smooth best for newbies).
Does this make sense for a close to standard set up?
