Here's a couple of finds from near Blackfriars bridge from the last couple of weeks, found during "lunch hour". I think the first is a token, the second a George3rd halfpenny that has been neatly cut in half. Has anyone come across this before? Nice finds i spent my youth on the foreshore used to live at Millbank spent hours eyes only in the 1960 and late 1950 found all sort down there.

Yes used to keep us off the streets and we had great fun finding coins and clay pipes by the ton old bottles,dead cats,all sort of stuff.

Dean, funnily enough, I found a Viccy penny on Tuesday that had been cut in the same way!
Have you tried cleaning that rose farthing? Mine was a bit grubby when I found it but it cleaned right up just with soap and water.
Millbank didnt see a lot of traffic until say the early 1800s as it was an uninhabited boggy marsh before then,
the land was reclaimed by thomas cubit who then filled in the marshy bog and built houses . so you wouldnt expect to make early finds there . i had numerous digs along that stretch and its just sticky mud after 12 inches ' hammys how i love ya, how i love ya my dear old hammys '
Found loads the river moves the finds from upstream.
