What machine?! Mod. For a lightweight (child)

Post by Pav »

Would be interested in your ideas. I have some fantastic times on the beach with my kids with the MD. They are not afraid of the dark! , or the storm season.

The SOV is good! But just too much for my daughter. She is happy that I search and together we dig but I would like her to have the control when we are out together. I cannot decide;

1) modified second shaft and small coil. Rucksack mount for the control unit. I would have an amplified speaker I think mounted in the side pocket.

2) a second machine, second hand. Modified for a short shaft. But what machine?! She does not require a non motion detector and to be honest think she would be dissapointed by depth.

3) a child specific machine such as the Viking 1, but unsure re. Performance of such a cheap machine. She has used one of the old cs330 machines and they struggle with any depth of sand.

4) cs4pi was a very easy, lightweight machine, but our most local beach is covered in iron.

What would be your ideas please on the beach with a keen youngster?

5) pin pointer, now that I see there is a PI option. We can still search on the wetsand, but she has a more involved task with the pinpointer (I know the best bit for her is seeing if it's another ring pull!).

And she likes nothing more than telling me when I can't see. .. It's a ring! .."............. Pull.

gets me every time!

Hi Pav

My little boys of four and six get on well with either my Deus shortened down (it's light and it's an easy machine on the beach), or my backup machine, a Laser Rapier II, with one section of stem taken out, because that's really light too and miles better than a children's machine. Both are great on inland as well as on the beach too. Both can be used as 'switch on and go' machines so children can be pretty independent with them.Obviously there's a whacking great difference in cost between the two. Hope that helps :D

Great to hear that she enjoys going along, and hope she finds a ring of the more valuable variety soon! ::g ::g

After swinging my Teknetics Eurotek pro all day Sunday, I would defo recommend for anyone wanting a very good entry machine which is easy on the wallet as well as the arm. The standard Eurotek is even cheaper with a nice big display to view and easy configuration, we'll worth checking out.
Good luck to you

Sounds like you both like the wet beach so that narrows it down a bit.
I would opt for a modded sov. Maybe's make a shorter straight shaft out of 1mm carbon tube then hip mount the control box.

Hi,

a very light machine
g2 or gold bug
or better yet with the F19 = total silence about the iron

these three machines going very well on the wet sand
and take small piece of gold that many do not see

for PI = beachscan pulsepower
the lightest and recognizes fine iron
much better than the scops ;)
PI Fisher--Aquamanta / Pulsepowers Goldscan 5C / Vista Gold / Nexus Coronado

forgive my english ...
