Coil sizes...

Post by LRB1975 »

Hi All,

I'm not a Deus owner, but just would like the opinion of those that are.
Theoretically, If I was to buy a Deus (not saying I am :-SS ) Would it be better to go for the 9 or the 11 inch coil??... I know the 9 is probably better for pin pointing, but is it better to get a little more depth and coverage from the 11?? What do you think??

Thanks.

I use the 11 most of the time but if it was a trashy site, I would use the 9 to get between the crap
all the gear, no idea!

I tend to use the 13 inch coil in the morning and change to the 9 inch in the after noon

so easy to change the coils no cables to fart about with just slide it out and slide the next one in
easy

Although not a Deus owner; I believe the extra depth that a larger coil gives helps to compensate for the loss of depth when working over stubble or longish grass. ::g

Thanks for the replies. Surprising there aren't a few more opinions given how many Deus users there are on here. What did you find was the problem with the 11 inch lukewarm?

It covered more area but not deeper, would not id stuff at the same depth as 9 would. Clumsy in the stubble.

i love the 11" coil my finds rate has improved for me ...is it deeper than the 9" cant say really
but i just find it a much better coil imo. yes in stubble its not as good as the 9 but on rolled
and pasture its excellent...it covers more ground and to me just seems a little more responsive.
some say for trashy areas your need the 9 ...well iv learned to just really slow down in them
areas and you can pick out the good from the bad ...and it prob comes down to what programs
you are using as well.

as for pinpointing its not a issue with any coil or any machine ....iv never ever used a pinpoint
function on any of my machines ...once a target is located just back off as soon as you lose it
its at the tip of my coil ......if still unsure turn 90 degrees do same bang its at tip of the coil.

I use the 9 in trash and stubble and the 13 elsewhere. Ground coverage with the 13 is the primary benefit for me. The 13 used at 7.5 kHz on pasture can find stuff ridiculously deep especially with the descrimination and selectivity wound right back...I wont say to what depth I've found predecimal pennies at because most won't believe me!!! ::g
Looking for stuff.....mainly in fields.......
