First Real Storm of the Winter?

Hi guys,

Well the first real storm of the winter is starting to batter parts of the UK as I type.

Does this put you experienced beach detectorists on standby to head out when the storm passes?

What should a novice like me look for in the wake of high winds and heavy rain, that would indicate a good place to start swinging the detector?

You need to keep an eye on the sand, sometimes it will strip the sand down to the stone underneath in certain places, or take enough off to reach the hard underneath. This will allow you to get to finds that have been hidden for years. Maybe it will bring more sand in, you never know.
This is why you have to know your beach and recognise the movements of the sands.

You need to keep an eye on the sand, sometimes it will strip the sand down to the stone underneath in certain places, or take enough off to reach the hard underneath. This will allow you to get to finds that have been hidden for years. Maybe it will bring more sand in, you never know.
This is why you have to know your beach and recognise the movements of the sands.

If it brings anymore to scarborough your gunna need ladders to get on the beach lol

Hi Shaun, Even if I need a triple extender going to be on the sand this sat been doing the land for the last few weeks so need a bit of sand under my feet hopefully not 10ft deep

Was thinking of going Blackpool myself bit of a novice on the beach though as i am a land man lol,but people keep telling me to get my ctx to the beach,might just be a good time to try it out lol.

Gona hit the beach at Talacre this morning and be there at the crack of dawn. Probably get the same old WWII scrap; or maybe the beach will throw up a few surprises.

You could see the seas raging yesterday at Blackpool not seen better for a while, must be well
churned up there .. also the telly showed the sand whipping over the walls at Rhyl carried by the wind no doubt fresh layers well be availbe/ and or stripped.... lull after the storm today

Just checked my local beach and it seems the sea has dumped more sand on it rather then stripping it back.... Better luck next time Always seems to be the case here in East Sussex. When it's northly it just seems to plie it up, when it's due south 9/10 its been striped back.
