Today's finds

Post by Greg3 »

Hi
I managed an hour or so on the beach today (after the rain had stopped!) but only had a small stretch of sand to search due to the tide. I was hoping that the recent storms might have uncovered something interesting and sure enough, up popped this.... (Actually it was just lying on the surface!!!)

The inscription reads "Samuel & Yolanda To Jemima 17:7:69"
I'm guessing it was for a baby? Christening maybe? It'd be cool to find out who they were, but with only first names that might be tricky!! The reverse is hallmarked 375 which makes it 9 carat gold but I can't make out the other marks. It's also stamped MWC which I'm assuming is the retailer or engraver?

I also found a 1917 penny and this, no idea what it is... My first thought was part of a watch?

1869 would be very cool!!! But unfortunately I think I've deciphered them and it's from Dublin 1969 - (assuming the lower case b is the date letter) I may be wrong however!! It's still a very cool item... One of my favourite finds!!
