advice on a good secondhand beach detector

Post by mrhodge »

just a quick question im thinking of getting a second hand detector for the beach as money is tight in the hodgson house and would like a bit of advice on one,is there such a detector that has been around for a bit but is good on the beach,i have the deus lite and am very happy with it on the fields but just wondering about selling my backup detecter and putting the money towards a beach detecter.i know you can use the deus on wet and dry sand but is there an old one that rocks on sand or should i just save the money and run with the deus.i value your advice and wisdom and thanks for your help.kind regards hodge.

If you don't mind digging deep and digging a lot then go for the surf master. Fully waterproof submersible. Probs looking a couple of hundred £ ..

Of course if you have the money go for a sovereign, they are a brill detector, but if you want cheap performance that is equal to an e tracs depth, it's a Minelab quatro. The detector is very good in wet sand and is easy to use. It's a bit like an garret at to use, but better in the wet stuff, no falsing at all.
I found a lot of stuff with mine, it takes a while to learn the sounds though.
At first it's a bit of an overload with all the sounds, but when set up correctly it's hard to beat for depth and a cheap secondhand buy for the beach, very underestimated. ::g

There's a detector that's not mentioned much on many forums, and its the Laser Scout, Cheap, Lightweight, Auto mineralisation rejection and Discrim, I use it if the wet beach areas are infested with iron and crap, and if my Sov. gives my old shoulder some grief. I don't use the Deus on the wet, its far to chirpy on our east coasts, If your wanting to go in the water then for me its got to be a Pi. Just got back from a weeks detecting in Majorca so your up to the shoulder in the water. as we don't do the dry in Spain. keeps the law happy..

Or if you don't mind digging up loads of gold, i like PI's, i've used them for over 2 years now, I bought a Surfmaster back in August from the bay for £265, simply because i wanted a waterproof. Tripled that already. My CScope 4PI cost £250, found me £3000. Sov's are ok but i wouldn't swap my pulse for one.
