Can't see screen because of cover reflection

Post by Beany_bot »

I've never heard anyone else mentioning this but I find it something of a major problem. I really struggle to see the screen on my Explorer when I've got a cover on it. I've tried 2 different ones, both the same. Has anyone got around this problem, the plastic transparent part of the cover for the screen is such a reflection magnet and because it isn't perfectly flat I really really struggle to ever see the screen properly.

Hi Clint, just wondering if you got anywhere with this. Still finding the glare off the cover a real pain. Can never se the screen properly unless its dark and the backlight is on.

Hate those covers for the same reason of not being able to see the screen years ago I bought a screen protector for a mobile phone off a guy on eBay sorry I can't remember what make it was. I emailed seller first to ask him about the ones he was selling and told him what I was going to use it for, he told me the ones he was selling where not the higher quality ones ha ha.

He was able to get some other make for me it was a bit big but I was able to cut it down so that it was just smaller than the clear part of the screen and it has stayed on perfect ever since no glare at all.

When it rains I always carry a freezer bag out if lidl's folded in four to minimize creases so that you don't get as much glare. Just pull it over on clear side and slip on an elastic band. After it gets to dirty or creased you can just take a new one out next time your out detecting. You get much less glare from these freezer bags than you do from those box covers.

Sounds like a plan, I was going to buy a screen protector anti-glare thing, but I was going to try and stick it to the screen on the box cover. If that works, great. If not, I will probably do as you have and run it naked and keep a freezer bag for when it rains. Thanks.

P.s. I am actrually going to lidl tonight so will look for those freezer bags.

Just pulled the box out of the cupboard 75x 3l, 25cm x 32cm brand aromata. A friend of mine used a box cover on his explorer II for years when he took it off I noticed it had scuffed up the screen of his detector.

I detect with my right hand and do all digging and looking at finds in my left hand so my machine never gets much dirt on hand grip or screen.

Yeah it's the way to go, im going to loose the box cover (It's ugly anyway). Im not fussed about scratches on the screen because they can be carefully polished out later on down the road.
