OK I am confused about this now. I do hope someone can tell me if I have this right.
Obviously the discrim level on the Deus can be adjusted. Lets assume it is set at 6.8
As far as I can tell, iron will still be heard audibly as a low tone grunt under that level and iron may still come through at higher ranges/two different targets next to each other etc. We can also alter audio frequency and at which points different tones come in/out.
We can also alter iron volume. So far so good, but, if we alter the low/iron tone so it cuts out at 15 or 2 or 5, for example that will also alter the discrim.
So my questions are, how is altering the point where the first low tone changes to the 2nd tone, different from altering the discrim value or vice versa? and, are we really discriminating iron below a certain level or just changing signals below a certain number to a low tone?
Why even have a discrim option?
if you discrim at 6.8 you shouldn't be able to hear any tones under 6.8 mate - apart from the odd pop, squelch or fart as you first hit the target

Some interesting post from an other Dane called Henrikas.. He's a bit nerdy and constantly adjust on everything that can be adjusted on.. If you look through his posts you will find a few interesting - even youtube from him in English.. Here is one with the discrimination down to 0.0 - http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... bo#p629431" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
yup have a play about in the tone settings - but it might be worth going full tones and discrim up to 1.0 and see how you get on
I'll go full tones and discrim up to 1.0 if a field is very chatty but I want to still hear the majority of whats going on - once I know a field is not so busy i'll discrim down to 0.0 again - the busier it gets the higher i'll go - normally up to 5.0 and up to 4 reactivity
but with all these things it's a balancing act
Have a look at Garys Hot and Hot5 programme - I've found many a hammered in very busy fields with the deus switching between these programmes

Hi - Just a point about Iron Volume.
Setting iron volume between 1 and 5 ferrous targets under ID value 10 will not be rejected audibly and will sound using the first audio tone.
