Xp deus as a 1st machine

Post by Entrada2006 »

Quick question would it be a good idea to get a xp deus as my first machine? I've never had one before will it be too much for a novice? I hate the idea of getting a cheap machine and it putting me off the hobby...any thoughts?

A big YES. Have a look at Gary`s detecting 10 video clips and that will make up your mind for you.

Have fun as some of us have been doing for over 5 years with the Deus. ::g Jerry.

I bought the Deus as my first machine & I'd recommend it ::g If you can afford it or you know you'll stick to the hobby :-/ many buy a metal detector have a couple of go's & it ends up in your loft. ;;z

It's a turn on & hoover up the machine [:) I've found loads in my first year :D all posted on here if you want to check them out..... :)

It might be a good idea to get a permission or two if you haven't already ;) There's nothing more frustrating then wanting to get out hunting & not having anywhere to go..... 98; ;;z

If your anything like me you'll have a detecting addiction & spend hours pondering over maps, chasing down farmers & starting work monday more nackerd then I was at the on friday when I finnished for the week....But I Love It =P~ I must Dig Shiny Things...
Good Luck & Happy Hunting.

Start with it and then no need to upgrade later :D
Start with the pre-sets and get used to what it's telling you.
Then when you are used to it in the pre-sets you will be more confident about making small changes and getting it to suite you ::g ::g
I would advise to get the full set up if you can as the control box IS needed to do certain things you can't do without it ::g
As said, on here and Gary's site are here to help you.
Great machine and you won't regret it ::g ::g

If you can afford it, and you can get permission to hunt somewhere, then go for it! It's annoying to learn one machine and then upgrade and struggle for weeks again.

When you turn the Deus on initially, it should be in the Basic 1 mode, and will behave in a very similar way to the easy-peasy machines like the basic Garrett ones. So you can pretty much go straight out with it and start detecting :D Later you can read the more complicated bits of the manual, and worry about optimising your settings (frequency, tones, ground balance etc.)

Will say that it might be easier to start in GMP or fast.. If you never have had a detector in hand before, just turn on and go.. Later on you ca slowly start to change small things.. Sensitivity and discrimination.. GO for the 11" coil and full version with the controle unit. You dont need WS5 Full cup headset, as you can get the CP6 if you ever freeze your ears...

Go for it, they are a great machine, as long as you've got some permissions to use it on!

I got mine relatively new into the hobby, stayed with Basic One for a while, then read loads of reviews and watched YouTube videos. Keep it simple to start with, learn the machine well, then you can slowly alter things if you want to. I love the machine, and every time i go out i learn something new. Go for it and enjoy! we are only here once ::g ::g

My advice is go and get some land thats got history attached to it first , if you go and buy an expensive machine and there is no history on your land then you will blame the machine like most do, good land is a must in this hobby, most mid range detectors will find you stuff. ::g
