Question..ploughed/scuffled fields

Post by ayit »

Hi guys, need your help again.
Just been on a dig on rape stubble, scuffled and very light, airy and soft.

Found it fairly difficult to get signals but ,after thinking about it the day after,
do you think it may be better to up the discrim fairly high to try to concentrate
the detector in a narrow way rather than open?

Even as high as one or two of the American programs such as coin shooter. In the light soil
I don't think depth is such an issue so maybe response fast, deep off, seawater off, and
high discrim, can't think of anything else to try. I have just over a week before I am on
rape stubble again so I need to get ready.
Thanks in advance for replies

PUT the descrim up high? I think you mean push the sensitivity up but not so it becomes unstable you want as little descrim as possible the more desrimination you set the less you will find as your discriminating it all out :-O

Some machines including Minelabs just dont like 'ploughed fluffy soil',its possible i guess to get some better results but it may well be best to let it settle and after some rain. That may be better than adjusting the settings.

Rape stubble fields, once the stalks are disced are very good for detecting...that's when I bag up! ::g If you didn't get many signals with a CTX it's just a quiet field.

A ;)
Only in it for the ££££'s =P~
