Talacre today

Post by Resurgam »

Along with Koala, I made it to Talacre sands this morning and it was nice to have some good company for a change. Managed to keep the number of WWII scrap finds to a minimum and winkled out 2 X decimal 1/2 p, 1 X 50p, 1 X Georgian Penny, and a silver ring.

Weather stayed fine ::g but wind was blowing quite hard.

Nice to meet up with Resurgam

Found my first 20mm but too badly corroded.

Plan for after lunch went out of the window. Found an area of modern coins last time cherry picked the loud target was going to back and see if any older coins were underneath.

However a newbie with 250 came over asking for help as he was getting a lot of signals that were disappearing. As where I was wet and in the pebbles is little fragments of 303 jackets. I took him to where the 303 were lying close to the surface he seamed to be a happy bunny.

Apart from bullets and cases I have my first sixpence from Talacre along with a pre decimal half penny

Did a quick Google for R-wiN but failed to find a logo with a large "n" might be a letter missing from the front.

Hi Roy,

I have been digging a few silver odds and ends at Talacre since I bought in the MineLab Safari last January. I reckon that we could crack the riddle of the sands at Talacre, if a few of us got together and worked a very low tide.

Will have a look at the tides for next month and see which Sunday gives us the lowest tide of the month. We can also see if we can rustle up a few more volunteers to join us to give a special area a good going over.

As for the crowbar; I'm never surprised at what turns up in the sands down there but I must confess that in five years I have never found one of those land-mines yet. ::g

Hi all. Just got back from a holiday abroad and now want to get into metal detecting. I'm a complete novice and would like to meet up with someone who could help me get started. Not too far from Talacre so if you could let me know when you'll be there, I'll try to get along.
