Personally I have given up hope, all I have ever heard is rumour, the selling point for me was its upgradeability, and a promised hoard hunter option that has disappeared without a trace. I have put the Deus away after 4 years of use and gone back to my X-Terra 705 which has such sweet tones, and is much easier to use and understand. If the "New" coil for the deus arrives within the next decade then I will give that a go, but for now the Deus stays in the cupboard.

I'll stick with the V2 thank you, how many upgrades can you have or need.

Andy M your dead right about buying because of the upgrade situation. I for one thought there would be lots of little tweaks regularly put out to try by XP. I've only had mine since Dec 2014 and have upgraded roughly zero times. Am beginning to think the V4 could be a bit of a let down too with talk of emphasis towards gold nugget prospecting, am assuming that will be of little use to most. Come on XP concentrate on improving the things that the Deus already excels at.

I'm not knocking XP or the Deus but what advantage is there for XP to continually upgrade the Deus? Surely as a business model upgrading their end users machines for free doesnt make business sense, where are they going to get revenue from?. Eventually sales of new units will plateau and sales fall.......so how soon until Deus 2?

Deus V4 will be accompanied by the new 9" x 6" coil, the new rechargeable waterproof pinpointer and the hoard hunter coil.
looking forward to giving them a tryout at then XP Rally in September that's if i can resist treating myself before then.

Ye massive hype over it, i don't think its going to offer much more than what is already available, maybe might work better on the beach but apart from that i reckon its a massive money spinner

XP haven't continually upgraded so can't answer what advantage there would be for XP, however if they did upgrade them then I am sure the £1400 I paid for £25.00's worth of plastic with a couple of batteries in would leave enough room for a few upgrades.

Andy I see your point but either way it is still a very good machine and ahead of the majority of other detectors on the market. Version 4 might take it to another level but we will just have to wait and see. I would like to see you try and build one for £25 I'm sure the improvements would be great so I suggest you get started

From what I have heard the v4 will give a higher frequency, not sure if that is coupled with the new coil or not though.Re: the £25 bit of plastic in quote above, every bit of plastic and componentry etc is made in house in France, hence higher production costs, also a lot of expense in R & D is involved, whatever people think of Deus' they sure are a very versatile machine which suit some but not others.
The deus is great, in the 4 years I have been using it its been fine, it has its advantage over other machines, just feel a little let down by the amount of time its taking to release upgrades and things like coils, it was sold to me as a future proof machine, I have since bought a different manufacture hoard hunter and a beach specific machine. I fully understand about R&D costs and was joking about the £25.00, as already said, I was told the hoard hunter would be available at the end of the month that I bought it 4 years ago, I waited and waited and waited. I will no doubt buy the hoard hunter package and the new coil when they become available, later this year according to rumours above, either June or September. There's been lots of speculation from famous metal detectorists and suppliers but it's still not in my hands yet,I have no doubt I will fall back in love with it when that time comes, until then it stays in cupboard and X-Terra 705 is back out to play and doing very well from the off.
