My Deus is now pretty battered and well used, mostly GMP on tracking but tinker with Deus Fast. Anyone else with the 9 ins coil have some specific settings that find those elusive deeper hammies? I have a nice bit of soft ploughed that has produced some nice finds but now I need that extra bit of depth .. Liam ::g

Interesting post this, at times it does seem to me the the "deus" has to many variables given the amount of both questions and reply"s, I know its what suits the individual, but there does appear to be no real consensus? maybe v4 will make it clear!!! maybe not!! any views? Benny

Such a simple test but just highlights the fact how tame the stock settings are,i do have the 'Hot' prog installed on my Deus and it is reasonably good but dont tend to use the machine as the main one, still carry it with me as a backup.

For the benefit of others, I've edited your post:
Today I did an experiment in the field. I dug a hole a 'spade and a bit' deep, probably 7"- 8", and put a short cross penny in it, refilled the hole and stamped it down. I then went through the programs. Basic One: signal. GMP: signal. Deus Fast: no signal. Basic Two: no signal. Hot Program: great signal. HF deep: great signal. My other programs, the signal was interesting. I've had my Deus nearly 4 years.

It would be interesting to see how the programs compared on real undug targets.

Same here Liam.. GMP and rasied sensitivity to 94 lower the disc to 2.0 or 3.0.. and sometimes tracking. I have never looked into any other programs.. So if someone could shortly tell me about hot a and fast - it would be great.. Thank you.. ::g

I use Gary's Hot program and it works very well for me on my pasture. I have looked at another program and if it work better I will let you know. the air test seems good. I was on the Humber foreshore last weekend with my good friend Who has done it a fair few times in the past. I had to use the fast program on there so many signals. found a few pounds between us with John finding the lions share. I did manage a small musket ball which I was very happy with.

this is a program i use called creeper works well for me
disc 0 full tones gives you so much more information back sens 90/94, tx power2 ,freq 17.7, iron vol 0, reactive 3,silencer1, audio response 4 ground balance manual normally around 85/87 ,with either the 9 inch coil or 11 inch and watch out for the little squeaks .
this is a mates program that i used for the first time on sunday and i must admit i really liked it

Liam, I'm certainly no expert with the Deus but I've had very good depth on pasture with these settings.

Frequency 8kHz, TX on 3 , Disc on 6 or maybe down to 5, Silencer 1 or 0, Audio response 4, Tones 3,
Iron Volume 0, Sensitivity 95, Reactivity 1 , Ground = Tracking.

I use pinpoint quite a bit as well if the number ID comes up in the 90s as it confirms whether something is coin sized or not. Leave the coil in contact with the ground when changing to it.

I'm hoping to get an 11" coil as that would help with ground coverage and depth in those pasture fields. Be aware that TX 3 drains the battery more quickly.
