latest magnet fishing finds.

Post by andyb »

Hi all,

I went magnet fishing today at a local river/drain. For a change I got a few finds a couple of them interesting! Obviously all finds were iron which is something we generally ignore with our detectors but I just find it brings a new dimension to the hobby of treasure hunting

I hope you enjoy the video and maybe it will spur a few of you on to take up the hobby :)

Yeh your right mate that mud is horrendous and stinks badly. I did mean to take my gloves but by the time I got there I realised I left them at home, dohhh!

I've always wanted to have a go, but the state of some of the rivers near me a shopping trolley or car wheel would be the highlight of my finds I think, thanks for showing us your efforts ::g

Hi Andy, it looks like a good way to pass an hour if you have nothing better to do. You never know what you may find.

I remember a story my father told me years ago. He served in India and Burma right at the end WWII. When his ship docked on coming home a rumour started going around that they were all going to be searched as they disembarked. This resulted in hundreds of Japanese swords, weapons and other artefacts being dumped over the the side of the ship. A veritable treasure trove if you found the spot, he never told me where :(

As an aside I once asked him what he did in the war but he said he was to late for the action as it was all winding down when he got there. Apparently his duties consisted of shooting rabid dogs and blowing open safes that had been damaged as the Japanese pulled out. As we never had a visit from the old bill he either never used his skills in civilian life or he was lucky and never got caught, in which case there is hidden stash somewhere he never told us about :D
