Buy a Deus or Wait for V4 and a new coil

Post by Shawshank »

I'm pretty confident that after a couple of years of T2 ownership, after my trusty Ace 250, I'm going to pull that metaphorical trigger and buy a Deus maybe within the next 24hrs or so.

The only thing giving me pause for thought is the introduction of the new coil with V4.

Currently I see the best package for me as being the 11" coil with controller and the WS4 headphones.

I'm thinking of going WS4 as although I usually use full headphones I thought these would be good for summer and I could buy the wireless full head Chefphones for winter which use the WS4 controller.

Having done as much homework as I can I think that the 11 inch coil should be great for my detecting permissions and any subsequent higher frequency coil that would be released would complement this one. If anyone with more than my meager level of experience could confirm this I'd be really grateful.

The thing I don't want to happen is come the release of the new coil to find that my 11 inch coil has been superseded by the new one leaving me wishing I'd gone for the 9 inch coil or even the 13 inch one. I appreciate that V4 will be a simple download it's the hardware that concerns me not the software...

I'm reasonably confident I'm making the right decision but I think I'd be foolish to do this without consulting a forum like this with the massive amount of experience on here.

What are your thoughts?

Go for it.. Full set and the 11" coil.. If a forth coil will come, I guess it will be a 7" sharpshooter.. You will be able to update any time to V4.. (im still on V2)

The lack of responses to your post is probably down to not knowing enough to give you an honest answer.

It’s a difficult question as we are not certain what benefits the new coil will bring, it has been suggested it will operate on high frequencies, which could make it more stable and deeper on wet sand. Which brings me to the question, could this improvement be made by the software alone or would you need the new coil?

Also will XP offer the coil as an extra only and not with a new detector when you purchase it, in which case you had just as well go ahead.

I have heard it say that depth is not that good with the Deus but personally on the ground I search I am confident I am missing little in the top 8” and often dig deeper albeit it took me some hours and experimenting in the field to come to the settings that suit me.

Thanks for your reply John.

I think that the way forward for me will be to go ahead and order the Deus.

It is obviously a great detector. A bit more communication from XP about the capability of their forthcoming products would have been very handy though I understand why they wouldn't want to lose any competitive market advantage in doing so and giving their competitors a heads up.

I suppose they did release information about the wireless probe but as it will only be useful for the Deus at first it will probably make them a fortune anyway if it meets expectations

Thanks again

I would definitely go ahead with the plan for the deus, 11 inch coil etc, as the V4 update and new coil seems to be directed towards beach use. ::g
