New Deus - which coil

Post by andydig »

I'm going to buy a new Deus next week, my only quandary is which coil to go for the 9" or the 11"?
All my permissions are pasture land, one permission in particular is badly infested with iron and loads of foil milk bottle tops (it used to be a dairy farm that bottled its own milk) so I was wondering which coil would suit my needs the best?

I'm swapping to a Deus as my Etrac plays havoc with my back so Ill want to keep the machine as light as possible.

Cheers Andy

I've just bought the Deus and most of my permissions are pasture at the moment.

After a lot of research I went for the 11 inch coil as John suggests.

I think I read somewhere that it will cater for 99% of detecting scenarios and was amazed at it's performance on my first outing :D

The only downside is that i don't get to use it again until next Tuesday ;;z

I'd go for 11, great coverage and good depth, I also have the 9 which is brilliant in stubble.

Weight difference with the 9 and 11 coils is a matter of grams difference.

9 " 392 gram + 44 gram Coilcover.. = 436
11" 415 gram + 60 gram Coilcover... = 475
Difference is 39 gram..

I preferred the 9" good in the iron, better in the stubble , lighter and less chatty than those 11' ::g

With three choices I would say the 11" if you are limited to one coil with out doubt the 11", however, as the land I have been searching for most of the last six months is undisturbed pasture. The 13" is back in favour, no problem with the weight and if anything it slows me right down. In my mind I am sure I am digging deeper.
